What We Expect From You
We are dedicated to maintaining safe, respectful and courteous communication and expect all interactions to reflect the same standard.
Unacceptable Behaviour
We recognize that when individuals contact us, they may be experiencing stressful, frustrating or emotionally difficult situations. We are here to assist you with your questions about applications and complaints under the Canada Labour Code, the Status of the Artist Act and the Wage Earner Protection Program Act, and we aim to provide respectful, compassionate service. In return, we expect all interactions to be conducted respectfully and appropriately.
Unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated. Harassment, abuse, intimidation, discrimination or threats directed toward staff or others will result in appropriate action to ensure the safety and well-being of the staff serving the Canada Industrial Relations Board.
Individuals who engage in such behaviour may face consequences, including restricted access to our services, premises and/or communication with the staff.
Examples of unacceptable behaviour include:
- engaging in any type of harassment, bullying, verbal abuse, threats, shouting or attempts to intimidate staff;
- making excessive, unreasonable or aggressive demands, submissions or enquiries;
- using profanity and/or obscene language;
- creating unsafe and/or unsanitary conditions;
- refusing to leave any of our offices when requested; and
- making discriminatory remarks, which includes using prejudiced language based on race, ethnicity or gender, or other prejudiced language.
Service and Communication Restrictions
We reserve the right to limit or restrict services and communication if an individual engages in harassment, abuse, intimidation, discrimination or threats toward our staff.
Service restrictions may include but are not limited to:
- restricting in-person visits or phone calls; and
- requiring all communication to be conducted in writing only .
