Status of the Artist

Self-employed artists, artists’ associations, producers and producer’s associations operating in the federal jurisdiction have a separate labour relations system. 

The Board hears applications and complaints by artists, artists’ associations, producers or producers' associations on matters such as: 

• the certification of artists’ associations;
• revocations of certification orders;
• the artists’ association’s duty to represent its members fairly;
• unfair labour practices by artists’ associations, producers and producers’ associations;
• pressure tactics.
